JD Alexander is a farmer, businessman and a citrus grower, who has lived in Florida’s Heartland all of his life. Having grown up in Frostproof, and now living in Lake Wales with his wife and two teenage daughters, JD understands the needs and priorities of Senate District 17 because it is his hometown and his community.
JD and his wife, Cindy, are active in the community and numerous charitable causes, proudly supporting the United Way for more than two decades and many other social service causes and educational foundations.

Known for his commitment to his district and rural counties, JD is a straight-talker who spends his time in Tallahassee getting the job done and delivering for his community. JD Alexander began his public service in the Florida House of Representatives in 1998, where he continued until 2002 when he was elected to the Florida Senate. During his tenure in the Senate, JD has held many key positions, such as Majority Whip, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, and Chairman of the General Government Appropriations Committee.
JD earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida in 1981 and is a continued supporter of UF and its academic future for aspiring graduates.
