J.D. Alexander Is Best Choice For State Senate Take Advantage Of Early Voting

State Sen. J.D. Alexander is an important voice for Central Florida in the Legislature. His years in Tallahassee give him seniority and clout, and his efforts for his constituents earns our endorsement for another term.

 Alexander is well-respected in just about all circles in Highland County. His agricultural roots run deep here and business leaders believe he's someone responsive to their needs.
 
We've never had major issues with Alexander, but we do believe he needs to have more outreach with the public in Highlands County. He needs to be here on a regular basis, hearing from regular folks - not just his base that pumps money into his coffers, but low-income people who are struggling - about the issues that affect them. We believe this action would make a big difference in making sure he understands the issues confronting real people who depend on him.
 
Alexander is a good man, and does good work for our region. We want him to continue that, and to always remember that it's the regular people who are electing him, and for him to be responsive to their needs, even if those decisions go against some of the interests that help get him re-elected.
 
Early voting begins Monday in Highlands County and as many people as possible should attempt to take advantage of it.
 
Early voting allows voters to do their civic duty long before the crush on Election Day. At selected sites around the county, registered voters can cast their votes quickly and without the large crowds that are expected on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
 
Many of us tell ourselves we are going to take advantage of early voting, but a good number of us procrastinate. Maybe this year will be different.
 
Casting an early ballot isn't all about convenience. It helps the elections office get a good jump on the process and make Election Day more efficient.
